Description

The renowned event Auto.matic.open returned to the Kesselhaus Augsburg (Germany), delivering a feast of electronic music to both the outdoor grounds and the indoor Kesselhaus venue. dBTechnologies sound systems provided the necessary power and precision across all stages, ensuring the complex outdoor locations were acoustically embraced, and the audience was left in a state of euphoria. Over 3,000 guests immersed themselves in the experience, enjoying top-notch DJs, supreme sound quality, and a delightful day and night.
Event technology experts from JM Light & Sound Eventtechnik expertly handled the complete management of the event's technology, including stage construction, lighting, video, and sound. For this particular event, Michael Wiedemann and his team of JM Light & Sound strategically employed dBTechnologies components that were permanently installed in the indoor area, as well as temporary units in the outdoor area. These were meticulously arranged as a 4-point sound system around the DJ booth for optimum DJ monitoring.
Michael Wiedemann shares insights into the event's technical requirements: "Auto.matic.open demanded that the sound systems cater to a diverse range of needs. Inside, line arrays were mounted on the walls, while subwoofers were positioned on the floor to encompass the dance floor. Outdoors, the central DJ booth took precedence, surrounded by four strategically placed speaker towers. The intricacy of directing all components of the four-point sound system towards the centre was a complex yet rewarding challenge. The VIO speaker systems, as always, demonstrated their prowess in delivering both powerful low frequencies and intricately differentiated high frequencies, resulting in a harmonious and fitting auditory landscape. The ease of installation and control of all units, facilitated by the Aurora Net software, was both comfortable and highly satisfactory."
Within the confines of the Kesselhaus, 16 VIO L1610 modules were installed as the main hang on the walls, while 6 VIO S218 subwoofers, standing in a row on the dance floor, addressed the low frequencies. The indoor location also boasts a gallery, for which Wiedemann utilized four VIO C12 and 8 VIO X10/12 Point Source speakers, vertically paired and mounted in the trusses. Additionally, 2 VIO X310 and 2 VIO S118R subwoofers were installed for DJ monitoring within the hall.
The outdoor dance floor, encircling the central DJ booth, was enveloped in sound by 4 Line Array modules from the VIO L212 series, each paired with two VIO S218 subwoofers in a stack formation. In total, four such combinations were deployed around the area, with the DJs benefiting from 3 VIO L208 units and 2 S118R subwoofers for their monitoring needs.
